Indigenous Taiwan folk songs woo campus audience

Aboriginal folk music from Taiwan charmed campus music lovers at a concert, “The Sound of Heaven over Mount Jade”, performed by the Taiwan Vox Nativa Choir and Percussion Ensemble invited by City University of Hong Kong (CityU) on 12 August.

Over 450 music enthusiasts attended the show, which was jointly organised by the Cultural and Sports Committee, CityU, and the Asia Pacific Taiwan Federation of Industry and Commerce.

Established in 2008, the group comprises aboriginal people from the mountains in Taiwan. The musicians have performed overseas on many occasions and received numerous awards over the years.

About 60 performers presented a splendid show. The choir sang indigenous folk songs and pop ballads, bringing the audience an enjoyable evening of aural delight; while the percussion ensemble amazed the audience by their virtuoso techniques.

Guests attending the concert included Professor Horace Ip ho-shing, CityU Vice-President (Student Affairs), and Mr Alexander Pann Han-tang, Chairman of the Asia Pacific Taiwan Federation of Industry and Commerce.
