President stresses importance of internationalisation in school talk
Internationalisation means much more than speaking in English, according to the President of City University of Hong Kong (CityU) during a talk for Form 6 graduates at Pentecostal Lam Hon Kwong School on 7 June.
Rapid internationalisation meant the world was getting smaller, said Professor Way Kuo in his address at the school’s 30th Speech Day cum Thanksgiving Service.
In addition, he said internationalisation was about the need to learn about other cultures and how other people live their lives, rather than just learning the language used in communication.
Common sense was as important as academic knowledge for solving real-life problems, and for enhancing the quality of our lives, he said.
