Verena Wibisono
Global Business student Verena Wibisono went on exchange study with University of Amsterdam (UvA) through CityU’s Student Exchange Programme.
”I have always wanted to travel and experience the world. I chose the Netherlands due to its location in Europe and it‘s an English-speaking country. I never encountered any language barrier here.“
”Before arrival, I did a lot of mental preparation because moving and adapting can be exhausting. I did a lot of research about courses, and I also reached out to the Indonesian community in Amsterdam. A tip is to just try new things, and the uni will most likely accommodate your experience. In UvA, there is a student org called ESN that hosts student activities to ensure you get the best experience during your time here.“
”I love every aspect of this exchange. My campus, the Roeterseiland Campus, is located in Weesperplein, very close to the city centre. It’s built over a canal so it’s an interesting view every day. My favourite study place is called the Singel Library, a nice old building about a 9-min bike ride away from the campus.“
”I travel a lot. Whenever I have a small break I try my best to explore Europe. Throughout my 1.5 months here, I have been to 4 countries and more than 10 cities.“
”Amsterdam is chilly and wet, but there is so much fun here. You will never run out of things to do and try. I made so many new friends, and I am so happy to call Amsterdam another home away from home.“
