Through CityU's Student Exchange Programme, Reshabh Singh (Business Operations Management) studied with Autonomous University of Barcelona.
"I had always wanted to go to a European country for my exchange as their unique geographical features of countries being close to each other would have allowed me to explore many more cultures during my time there. I chose Spain due to my interest in the Mediterranean countries and the vibrant way of life there."
"My biggest takeaway from spending a semester in Spain was not only getting to know about the unique way of life in a different country, but also being able to experience it first-hand. Living in a fast-paced city like Hong Kong has always had me on my toes and in a hurry to get things done. In Spain, as the pace is slower, I got to reconsider my life priorities. Although at first it took me some time to get used to it, gradually, I started to enjoy this new way of life where everyone took time to live in the moment, experiencing everything to the fullest, and taking time to indulge in conversations with people. This is one of the greatest changes which I have noticed in me after coming back to Hong Kong."
"The Autonomous University of Barcelona has an open campus with lots of greenery. During my exchange semester there, I often found myself meeting people from different faculties and having picnics with them on the vast patches of green grass scattered about the campus."
Reshabh encourages students going on exchange study to take an open-minded approach with the new encounters. "Don’t be shy of approaching people. I would have missed many interesting conversations if I had stayed in my bubble."
