Job Description

The appointee will be responsible for incubating and developing novel electrolyte materials. His/her core duties include:
• Design, development, validation, and analysis of electrolyte formulation for various battery systems for specific applications such as wide temperature storage, and fast charging for both Si based anode or Li based anode;
• Propose and execute experiments to electrochemistry evaluation of various electrolyte formulation applied in different battery system;
• Conduct literature research on new functional structures in solid electrolyte or additives / solvent / formulation in liquid electrolyte and apply them to NAMI’s research and development activities;
• Analyze and evaluate chemical and electrochemical data to determine direct and interaction effects of the materials under evaluation and execute root-cause analysis of failures and appropriate action incurred over course of development and launch;
• Progress report drafting 5o both sponsor company and Innovation and Technology Commission; and
• Performing other duties assigned by supervisor.

Job Requirement

• PhD or Master in Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related areas is required. Fresh graduate will also be considered;
• Solid understanding of components in electrolyte and their effect on lithium-ion batteries/lithium metal batteries. Experience with synthesis of electrolyte components for lithium metal batteries is a plus;
• Expert level of knowledge and preferably hands-on research experience on electrochemical analysis of energy storage devices: super capacitor, lithium-ion battery, fuel cells, etc.;
• Understanding of the electrical/electrochemical measurements of battery chemistry with tools of CV, EIS, etc. for DCIR, transference number etc. properties of electrolyte or full cell;
• Strong analytical skills and deep understanding of electrochemical characteristics of lithium batteries. Knowledge on DoE is a plus;
• Experience with analytical laboratory techniques such as ICP, SEM-EDS, GCMS, DSC, DCM, or FTIR;
• Good troubleshooting skills with Can-Do attitude;
• Strong accountability and responsibility for his/her work;
• Able to work independently and collaborate with the team to achieve common goals; and
• Good command of English and Chinese, articulate report writing/presentation skills as well as abilities in literature/patent search.
