What are my M365 Account Name (Username), Password and Email Address?

  1. Your CityUHK Microsoft 365 (M365) Account Name (Username) is in the form of:

    EID@um.cityu.edu.hk

    where EID is your CityUHK Electronic ID.

    If your EID is "cctom", your M365 Account Name is "cctom@um.cityu.edu.hk".

    • "EID" is for web logon.
    • "M365 Account Name" is for setting up popular email client software (e.g. Outlook) or mobile device to access your M365 account.

  2. The Password of your M365 account is the same as your AD password.

  3. The "Email Address" of your M365 account is in the form of "user@cityu.edu.hk". Your M365 account can have one Primary Email Address and one or more Non-primary Email Addresses. The Primary Email Address will be set as the Sender Address for all email sent from your M365 account.

  4. If you have not yet registered an Email Alias for your EID, the Primary Email Address of your M365 account is "EID@cityu.edu.hk".

  5. If you have registered an Email Alias for your EID, the Primary Email Address of your M365 account will be "your-email-alias@cityu.edu.hk", and the address "EID@cityu.edu.hk" will be the Non-primary Email Address of your M365 account.

    For example,

    • if your EID is "cctom", and you have not registered an Email Alias, your M365 account Primary Email address is "cctom@cityu.edu.hk".

    • However, if you have registered an Email Alias "Tom.Chan" for your EID "cctom", your M365 account Primary Email address will be "Tom.Chan@cityu.edu.hk", and "cctom@cityu.edu.hk" will be your Non-primary Email address.
