About 200 HK TECH Tiger students set to soar on their journey to become future leaders were welcomed at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) in a ceremony held both on campus and online on 29 September.

HK TECH Tiger is a bold new CityU initiative that enables high-flying students to pursue excellence, develop their potential, and take courses taught by world-class STEM professors.

Only the very top students are eligible to be HK TECH Tigers, such as having an overall score of 30 or above in four core and two elective subjects in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination; or an overall score of 40 or above in the International Baccalaureate® programme for non-JUPAS students.

Professor Way Kuo, CityU President, congratulated the young talent for being part of HK TECH Tiger, saying the University is committed to helping elite students go the extra mile and make the best of their years at the University with advanced learning opportunities.

“You will be engaged in specially designed courses and research topics under the mentorship of world-class scholars to help you attain your career goals and aspirations for further studies,” he said.

CityU has a well-earned reputation for the high academic standards of its faculty and its excellent research performance. According to metrics compiled by Stanford University, over 140 CityU faculty members are listed among the top 2% of the world's most highly cited scientists. By faculty size, this proportion is among the highest in Asia.
