President Way Kuo of City University of Hong Kong (CityU) extended the warmest of welcomes to non-local students at the virtual pre-arrival orientation sessions.
Orientation sessions organised by the Global Engagement Office (GEO) were held for non-local undergraduate students in July. The sessions attracted around 400 non-local students from over 20 countries and regions. The new students were excited to embark on their new academic journey.
Extending his welcome, President Kuo encouraged students to enjoy campus life and cultivate a sense of innovation and entrepreneurship beyond their studies and research.
“We are investing significant resources and will provide the necessary support such as mentors, training, legal advice as well as seed funding to assist translating your research results into practical applications,” he said.
President Kuo also shared the latest developments at CityU such as the flagship innovation and entrepreneurship programme “HK Tech 300”, the new drive for nurturing talents “HK TECH Tiger”, and the launching of the University Anthem.
GEO staff also updated the students, especially non-local students preparing to move from their home countries and regions to study at CityU, about the pandemic situation in Hong Kong, the necessary preparations for departure, campus facilities and the student residence.
In addition, student ambassadors talked about their experiences studying at CityU and the adjustments needed to integrate into a new learning environment.
