Small Angel Neutron Scattering (SANS)

Multiple Purpose Reflectometer

General Purpose Powder Diffractometer (GPPD)

The Small angle neutron scattering (SANS) of CSNS is a very important neutron technique useful for probing structures from around 1 nanometre to more than 100 nanometres. It has a wide range of applications from studies of polymers to nanoparticles.

Performance:

  1. Reliable SANS data between 0.01~0.5 Å-1.
  2. Instrument resolution better than ~30% around Qmin.
  3. Good dynamic range, sample space.
  4. Variable sample size.

Performance:

  1. Vertical sample geometry: solid film.
  2. Reflectivity/diffraction.
  3. Best resolution ΔQ/Q < 1%.
  4. Polarizing analysis for spinoelectronics.
  5. In-suit study on growing films.
  6. In-suit MOKE magnetic analysis Off-specular scattering.
  7. Grazing-incidence small-angle scattering.

The General Purpose Powder Diffractometer (GPPD) of CSNS is useful for a wide range of structural studies, especially for most users to determine crystallographic and magnetic structures in general purposes.

Performance:

  1. Best resolution Δd/d ~0.2 %.
  2. ~ mimutes for a diffraction histogram used by Rietveld refinement on ~ 1-g-weight sample.
  3. Easily loading the ancillary equipment such as cryostat, furnace and pressure cell

Target

CSNS first target station accommodates at least 18 neutron scattering instruments. Now, three above-mentioned day-one instruments are supported. The following please find the original plan:
