Prof. Yu Huang was honoured to deliver the Paul M. Vanhoutte Memorial Lecture at the 9th Scientific Meeting of the Asian Society for Vascular Biology (ASVB), held in Nanjing, China, on 30 November 2024. This lectureship was established to commemorate the late Professor Paul Vanhoutte (1940–2019), the founding President of the ASVB and a pioneering figure in the fields of vascular biology and pharmacology.

Professor Vanhoutte’s legacy in vascular biology is profound, with numerous groundbreaking discoveries, including the identification of endothelium-derived relaxing and contracting factors, as well as his pivotal work on endothelial dysfunction in cardio-metabolic diseases. His remarkable contributions to science earned him a well-deserved nomination for the Nobel Prize.

Following Prof. Huang’s lecture, Prof. Nanping Wang, President of the ASVB, presented him with a plaque in recognition of his invaluable contributions to the field.
