I am a student studying Bachelor of Business Administration in Management in CityU. Since volunteering is my hobby and I wish to participate in various activities at university to gain more visions, I joined the Inclusion Ambassador (IA) programme with the major aim of helping students with special educational needs (SEN) on our campus. It was my fortune to have engaged in events like visiting Hong Kong Federation of Handicapped Youth and a special school to learn about the difficulties they faced, and basic knowledge of diversity and inclusion from October to December in 2017. Moreover, the Caring Training Camp provided me a precious opportunity to interact with other volunteering teams in CityU and acquire the skills and attitude of helping people.
Among the activities I had been participated, inclusion week - IDEA Campaign that would be held once a year in CityU, left me with the most gradable impression. In this campaign, we, the Inclusion Ambassadors, were responsible for different tasks, including poster design, information exhibition, photo exhibition taken by SEN students and game booths in the hope of raising public awareness towards SEN students. Students on campus were actively participating in our exhibition and game booths and that made the Campaign colourful. This campaign was the fruit of all the students who had engaged in it and this was exactly what I wanted to bring out the most – diversity and inclusion. I wish there will be more students joining IA in the future and helping sowing the seeds of inclusion to wider spaces.
