Prof Sunny Wang Honored with the 2023 SZCCF Outstanding Educator Award

Professor Xin Sunny Wang, from the Department of Physics, has been awarded the prestigious "2023 Outstanding Educator of the Year Award" by the Shenzhen City Computer Federation (SZCCF). This recognition highlights his extraordinary contributions to education, particularly in the fields of physics and quantum information science. Notably, Professor Wang is the only recipient from Hong Kong this year, underscoring the far-reaching impact of his work beyond regional boundaries. The award was presented on August 30 during the 2024 Greater Bay Area Computer Conference.

Throughout his career, Professor Wang has shown an unwavering commitment to nurturing academic talent. His innovative teaching methods and dedication to student development have led to remarkable successes among his students. These students are now actively engaged at leading universities and research institutions, including Guangxi University, South China Normal University, Virginia Tech in the United States, and RIKEN in Japan. Some have also assumed key positions at multinational corporations like Huawei. Professor Wang’s guidance has enabled his students to publish significant papers in international academic journals, many of which have received accolades.

In addition to his teaching and mentoring, Professor Wang is a distinguished expert with the 'Sci-Tech Innovation China' Shenzhen Quantum Information Technology Service Team. He has delivered widely acclaimed science popularization lectures and has been actively involved in organizing and participating in academic competitions, significantly contributing to the dissemination and advancement of scientific knowledge. Moreover, Professor Wang has been invited to serve as a resident science expert at the Dongguan Zhongmei Middle School Science Popularization Base and provides quantum computing training to students at top schools such as Diocesan Girls’ School in Hong Kong. His exceptional contributions to education have earned him widespread respect and recognition as a leading educator.
