Congratulations to our fresh graduate, Mr CHEUNG Chun Hei (Alex), on receiving the College of Science Medal 2024.
Alex is our 2024 Bachelor of Science in Applied Physics graduate. He is a talented student who has shown unwavering dedication to his studies. He was on the Dean’s List for four semesters while studying at CityUHK, and received several academic awards, including the departmental Academic Award 2022/23, and the Best Poster Awards (Undergraduate Category) at the departmental Annual Symposium in both 2022 and 2024.
In recognition of his outstanding academic achievements, Alex has also been awarded many prestigious scholarships. These include the Hong Kong Shin Yat Tong Moral Association Scholarships 2024, the Cheng Foundation Scholarships for 2023 and 2024, the HKSAR Government Scholarship 2023, the HKSAR Government Scholarship Fund-Endeavour Merit for the years 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2024, the CityU Scholarship 2022, the Chi-Li Pao Foundation Scholarships for Academic Outstanding Students 2021, and Lee Shau Kee Scholarships for Academic Outstanding Students 2020.
Aside from academic excellence, Alex also actively participated in various extra-curricular activities at CityUHK. He served as the Vice-President (Internal) of the Student Chapter of the College of Science in 2022/23 and has been an active member of the PHY Student Chapter from 2020 to 2024. Alex is also a compassionate individual who has provided voluntary service and free learning support to underprivileged students continuously in a non-profit organization for over five years.
The College of Science Medal is awarded annually to a full-time final-year undergraduate student in recognition of his/her distinguished academic performance and well-rounded personal qualities. The Medal selection panel was greatly impressed by Alex’s exceptional academic achievements and continuous contributions to the community, and unanimously recommended him to be the recipient of the 2024 College Medal. There is no doubt that Alex is an outstanding ambassador for our College and the University as a whole.
