Invited speakers will share their knowledge and views on topics related to any one of the parts outlined below.
Part 1: The UHF RFID Technology
This part covers the latest developments of the UHF RFID technology that are related to the library arena. Special focus will be on “UHF RFID tags” as related issues such as selection of tags, lifespan of tags and evolution of tags have been vigorously discussed in the second meeting of the Working Group.
Part 2: UHF RFID Library Data Models
This part is a continuation of the theme of the second meeting of the Group. Libraries present examples of data models that they have used and the rationales behind. Discussion will cover proprietary tag formatting by vendors and interoperability issues. The aim is to make known to the UHF RFID practitioners libraries’ current practice, concern and preference as far as data models are concerned.
Part 3: Standardization Issues
Part 3 is a follow-up on Part 2. Libraries and organizations that have experience in formulating and promoting standards share their views on standard developments and adoption by stakeholders concerned.
Part 4: The Best Practices
The scale of UHF RFID adoption beyond the library sector is mega. There exist many reference cases that libraries can model on. In Part 4, successful UHF RFID adopters with recognized results share their experience in the deployment of the technology with applications specific to their areas of business. Through these best practices, libraries will gain insights and inspiration on how they can creatively adopt UHF RFID to streamline their operations.
