Discover the New Teaching Studio in the YEUNG Academic Building

by Joe Chow

The Yeung Kin Man Academic Building (YEUNG) has welcomed a brand-new, state-of-the-art teaching studio (G7510) designed to meet the evolving needs of our campus community. This new facility is the first of its kind to be located within the YEUNG Building and is one of the largest teaching studios on campus, with a capacity of up to 104 students. It is the latest addition to the existing six teaching studios under the management of the Computing Services Centre (CSC).

As our university continues to grow, there is an increasing demand for high-tech classrooms to support a wide range of courses. The concept of a centralised teaching studio offers several advantages, including consistent facilities and more efficient resource sharing. The YEUNG G7510 addresses these needs by providing a standardised user experience for both instructors and students. Regardless of which teaching studio they use, both students and instructors can expect to find the same software and AV control systems, eliminating the need to learn new systems every time they use a different classroom.

At the core of the YEUNG G7510 are high-performance computers for both instructors and students, ensuring a smooth educational experience. Mirroring the setup of other teaching studios on campus, this facility is equipped with advanced equipment designed to support a variety of teaching and learning modes, including face-to-face, online and hybrid classes:

The computers in the new teaching studio are also equipped with high-speed internet, ensuring that students and instructors can seamlessly browse the web, stream educational content, and collaborate online without interruption. Moreover, the teaching studio offers high-speed wireless internet and display capabilities, allowing students who bring their own devices (BYOD) to stay connected and participate fully in class activities. Conveniently, charging ports are installed at each table, so users can work without worrying about power constraints.

Conclusion

We strongly encourage all faculty and staff to take full advantage of the new teaching studio. To reserve the room for your classes or other activities, simply login to the CityU Portal and select the “CSC Teaching Studio Booking” option under the “Campus Facilities” section.
