What are AIMS and Banner?
Banner is an Oracle® enterprise database used by the University to store all student, staff and alumni data.
AIMS stands for Administrative Information Management System at CityU. It is a suite of university information systems allowing students, staff and alumni access to a variety of essential academic support and administrative services. All AIMS functions are web-based and primarily developed for self-service purposes.
Student System enables applicants to submit online application; and students to register courses, check class and examination time-tables, check grades and online apply various student services.
Human Resources System enables staff to submit leave application, get pay advice and apply for staff development courses and outside practice.
Alumni System enables alumni to subscribe special university services, and maintain contact with their classmates by posting personal news.
Departmental Administrative System provides functions for departments to manage their own students, staff and alumni, from applicant selection, marks entering, invigilation duty assignment, to staff leave approval. Other general departmental functions include procurement, development management and software asset management.
Central Administrative System covers all essential administrative tasks of academic support and administrative departments. Besides student, staff and alumni administration, the finance systems cover the general ledger, accounts payable and procurement.
