Kunqu Opera was inscribed in 2008 on the “Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity” by UNESCO.

Cultural Exchange Oasis is proud to have the Jiangsu Performing Arts Group Kunqu Troupe (the Troupe), renowned for its exceptional performances and preservation of the traditional art form, to bring two evening shows covering ten operatic excerpts to CityU. The selection promises to be a refreshing and delightful experience that offers an emotional spectrum typical of the genre.

Performing Group: Jiangsu Performing Arts Group Kunqu Troupe

The Jiangsu Performing Arts Group Kunqu Troupe will showcase the charm of Nankun through the consummate artistry of its cast, which includes renowned artist, National Class One Performer, and the winner of the Plum Blossom Award for Chinese Theatre, LI Hongliang and SHI Xiaming. To have a galactic cast of seven National Class One Performers, spanning three generations of actors in the troupe, and accompanied by a bamboo flute, a small drum, wooden clappers, gongs, and cymbals, all used to punctuate actions and emotions on stage. These certainly will make this an unmissable event for the audiences.
