Executive Classroom 6207 of the Lau Ming Wai Academic Building was named the “Cissy Wong Ying Executive Classroom” in recognition of alumna Ms Cissy Wong Ying’s steadfast support to City University of Hong Kong (CityU).
Ms Wong took her Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) classes with teachers and classmates in this classroom, making the naming even more meaningful.
Ms Wong is the founder of the elite wealth management team AIA ACE of AIA International Limited and the youngest female Premier Senior District Director at AIA in Hong Kong. Her remarkable achievements in her career are widely acknowledged.
Committed to contributing to the University and alumni affairs, Ms Wong is the Honorary Vice-President of the CityU Foundation and was a member of the Steering Committee for the “United, We Soar” Campaign. In addition, she is Vice-Chairman of the CityU EMBA (Chinese) Alumni Association cum Chairman of its Executive Committee in Hong Kong and an Executive Committee member of the CityU Eminence Society, an association comprising enthusiastic and supportive alumni. She has also donated to her alma mater to support its development.
A naming ceremony on 8 August was attended by Ms Wong and her family and friends, numbering over 100 guests; Professor Freddy Boey Yin Chiang, CityU President; Professor Lee Chun-sing, Provost and Deputy President; Dr Raymond Leung Siu-hong, Council Member and Chairman of CityU Eminence Society; Mr Sunny Lee Wai-kwong, Vice-President (Administration); Professor Cheng Shuk-han, Associate Vice-President (Research); Professor Stephen Shum Wan-hang, Dean (College of Business); Ms Kathy Chan Yin-ling, Associate Vice-President (Development and Alumni Relations); Professor Ron Kwok Chi-wai, Director of the Alumni Relations Office, and other members of the CityU management team, alumni and faculty.

Ms Wong appreciated the quality of her inspirational learning experience during the two-year EMBA programme. She learnt so much about the advantages of adopting high technology in business management, leading to her success.
“The naming of the classroom is meaningful and precious. I’m deeply grateful for the support and care of the CityU and EMBA community, motivating me to give back to my alma mater,” Ms Wong said.
Inspired by her father’s dedication to society and family, Ms Wong wishes to exemplify a giving culture for her son and the young generation. She hopes her donation will inspire other CityU alumni to contribute to their alma mater for its long-term development and the next generation. Her support for CityU’s alumni affairs has helped strengthen the connection between CityU and EMBA alumni in particular. She looks forward to CityU scaling new heights under the leadership of President Boey in this challenging and ever-changing era.
