Dr Chung Shui-ming, GBS, JP, has been re-appointed as Pro-Chancellor of City University of Hong Kong (CityU) for another term of three years with effect from 1 August 2022.
Awarded an Honorary Doctor of Social Science by CityU in 2010, Dr Chung has served the University in a number of capacities over the past 24 years.
He was appointed to the University Council in 1998 and subsequently invited to be Treasurer from 1999 to 2003, Deputy Council Chairman from 2004 to 2006, and Council Chairman from 2006 to 2008. He served as an external member of the University Court from 2014 to 2016 and was appointed as Pro-Chancellor in 2016.
“I am honoured to be given this opportunity once more to serve CityU as Pro-Chancellor as the University continues to build on its impressive record in professional education and problem-driven research,” Dr Chung said.
In addition to his services to CityU, Dr Chung, a professional accountant, has served extensively in senior management positions in banks, financial institutions, listed companies and public institutions as well as on a rich variety of government boards and public bodies.
Dr Chung was appointed Justice of the Peace and awarded a Gold Bauhinia Star by the HKSAR Government in 1998 and 2000, respectively.
