藝術家以汽車引擎為原型，但以富有彈性的矽橡膠製作，模仿生物，又按照人體毛髮的生長規律，將十八萬條人造毛髮植入矽橡膠中，再在裏面安裝聲音感應器。當有人走近這毛茸茸、刻有品牌標誌的「發動機」時，那怪物便會隨聲音變化而顫動幾下，仿似搔首弄姿，甚或發出冷笑。作品象徵消費社會中，人和機械關係的顛倒。
Made primarily of highly elastic silicone rubber, Engine is modelled after a car engine on the one hand and imitates an organism on the other. The artist implanted 180,000 artificial hairs in silicone rubber using the natural workings of human hair growth and installed a sound detection sensor inside the work. This hairy, logo-embossed “engine” vibrates in ways that sometimes resemble flirting and sneering whenever someone approaches and changes the surrounding sounds. The work signifies the inverse relationship between humans and machines in a consumerist society.
