About the Work

After a long discussion with two wheelchair users, we found out that they like to take photos but they have trouble taking them due to limited mobility. Therefore, we had designed an electronically assisted platform for their various cameras to be attached to their wheelchairs to make it easier for them to take photos.

Mechanism

The platform has a linear actuator which is powered and can be operated through a control box on a side to raise or lower the platform. The user can then slide the camera manually along the horizontal rail and pivot to frame the shot as they please. The platform reduces the need for the user to hold the camera steady in one hand, allowing for full one-handed operation.
