CityUHK hosted the first Shenzhen-Hong Kong Intellectual Property Forum on 4 December 2024. The event also featured the launch ceremony for the National Intellectual Property Operation (Hetao Shenzhen) Transformation Pilot Platform (Pilot Platform). The forum brought together officials, experts, scholars, industry leaders, and corporate representatives from the technology transfer fields at the national, provincial and city levels, along with those from HKSAR and Shenzhen, to promote the conversion and application of IP in the domestic market and to assist in the development of the innovation ecosystem in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area(GBA), national level, and globally.

A delegation led by Prof. LU Chun, Vice-President (Mainland Strategy) of CityUHK, attended the 100th anniversary celebration of Ocean University of China (OUC) from 24 to 25 October 2024. The aim of the visit was to convey CityUHK's heartfelt congratulations on OUC's centenary celebration. As partner institutions, CityUHK and OUC have established a solid foundation for collaboration. In 2021, they founded the Qingdao-Hong Kong Joint Research Center for Marine Environment and Ecology, which is dedicated to conducting cutting-edge research in marine science and related disciplines. Looking ahead, the two universities plan to expand their cooperation to fields such as electronic engineering and computer science. The CityUHK delegation also included Professor LEUNG Mei-yee, Dean of the School of Energy and Environment, and Professor GUO Yongxin, Director of the CityUHK Qingdao Innovation Center.

The 2024 Annual Conference and a series of activities of the Shanghai-Hong Kong University Alliance (SHUA) was held at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) from 16 to 19 October 2024. The theme of this year’s Conference was "Developing the Shanghai-Hong Kong Education Ecosystem", focusing on higher education as the foundation for education, science, technology and human resource development. The objective was to strengthen the mechanisms of interaction and cooperation, thereby accelerating the advancement of future science and technology education between universities in Shanghai and Hong Kong. Additionally, the conference aimed to establish a platform for international education exchange and promote collaborative and innovative developments in higher education. Professor LI Juan, Associate Vice-President (Mainland Strategy), along with her team, participated in the conference and facilitated the panel discussion.

CityUHK was invited to participate in the "2024 Top 10 Presidents Forum", held in celebration of the 10th anniversary of Insight Media. The 1st Governing Board Meeting of the Qingdao Innovation Center was held on 10 September 2024 in the West Coast new area of Qingdao. The meeting officially announced the establishment of the Governing Board, and the appointment of the Director, Deputy Director and members of the Secretariat. Professor Freddy Boey, President of CityUHK, led a delegation to Qingdao and met with officials from the Huangdao District on 2 August 2024. A promotion and recruitment meeting of the Dongguan internship programme "Soaring Wings" (HK station) was held at CityUHK, showcasing Dongguan's city image and its sincere interest in attracting talent from among Hong Kong university students. Mr. YAO Jiaqing, Deputy Director of the Organization Department of the Dongguan Municipal Committee, extended a sincere invitation to the representatives of Hong Kong universities and students present, welcoming university students from Hong Kong to sign up for the internship programme and intern or work in Dongguan. This was the first visit by the Dongguan Municipal Talent Office to Hong Kong to promote the city and attract talent since the pandemic. The event was hosted by the Dongguan Municipal Talent Office and co-organised by the Dongguan Municipal Youth League Committee and CityUHK.
