Biography
LU Chun
Professor LU Chun is currently Vice-President (Mainland
Strategy) of CityUHK and Executive President of
CityUHK(DG).
Professor LU obtained a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from
the National University of Singapore in 1994. Prior to that,
he earned a bachelor's degree from the Department of
Mechanics at Peking University and a master's degree from
the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Beijing
Institute of Technology. Professor Lu is a scholar who has
demonstrated exceptional leadership in the field of higher
education. In his research areas of computational mechanics,
high-performance computational simulations, computational
micro/nanomechanics and computational biomechanics, he has
received international academic recognition and accolades,
such as the Gold award in the Singapore High-Performance
Computing Competition.
Professor LU has held various distinguished positions,
including Vice-President and Chief Administrative Officer at
Southern University of Science and Technology; Principal
Engineer at the Institution of Engineers, Singapore; Senior
Researcher and Director of the Large-Scale Complex Systems
Research Division at the Singapore Centre for High
Performance Computing; Adjunct Professor at the National
University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological
University; and Assistant to the President, Director of
Asia-Pacific Cooperation, and Director of International
Projects at King Abdullah University of Science and
Technology, Saudi Arabia. Professor Lu is one of the few
outstanding individuals who have been involved in the
founding process of two new universities, giving him
extensive experience in building world-class universities.
