Professor Wang Jiangyu, Director of the CCCL, commented on the public interest litigation brought by the procuratorate against Tencent in BBC (Chinese). He opined that, given the rare situation for procuratorate to initiate such litigation, it is most likely driven by the pressures from consumers who had reported violations of the laws of protection of minors as well as the desire to cooperate with the Chinese State’s regulatory wave for controlling large Internet companies.
