Professor Wang Jiangyu, RCCL Director, explained in an interview with the South China Morning Post the rationale behind the anti-corruption campaign recently launched by China’s top law enforcement body. He argued that this move is driven by the belief of the Chinese Party-State that a corrupt and abusive law enforcement system poses an existential threat to the legitimacy of the Communist Party as the Party is preparing for its next national congress for which it is garnering popular support of the people.
