Professor Wang Jiangyu, RCCL Director, commented on several legal issues concerning the newly adopted National Security Law for Hong Kong on the Global Watch news programme of CGTN (China Global Television Network). He shared his views on the scope of application of the law, the need for further clarification and interpretation, as well as, the freedoms of Hong Kong people still guaranteed by the Hong Kong Basic Law. He noted that Hong Kong people should still be free to criticise the Hong Kong government, the Chinese government, and the Chinese Communist Party. Criticisms should not be regarded as violations of the security law unless they amount to organizing or taking part in activities leading to the offences provided in the law.
