Professor Wang Jiangyu, RCCL Director, commented on a decision of China’s National People’s Congress (NPC) to enact a national security law at the central level for the special administrative region, in a special report of Lianhe Zaobao (聯合早報), Singapore’s Chinese newspaper. He remarked that the NPC-made national security law may move the boundary towards Hong Kong’s autonomy in terms of limiting acts and behaviours which may be considered by the central government to endanger China’s national security but it does not seem likely that the law will change the fundamentals of the “One Country, Two Systems”.
