Professor Wang Jiangyu appeared on Greater China Live (直播港澳台), a popular news programme at Shenzhen TV, on 14 Feb 2020 to discuss Japan’s controversial handling of the Diamond Princess cruise ship currently locked down in Japan, on which 3,600 people have been quarantined for over a week. Professor Wang discussed the concerns of the Japanese government out of cost/benefit considerations in refusing to allow the passengers to land on Japanese soil and, more importantly, the difficulties of organizing international rescue effort under the current rules of international law and global governance.
