Innovation and Technology Scholarship 2024/25
The Scholarship is open to full-time, non-final year undergraduates with InnoTech passion in the University.
Aim of the Award
To provide recognition to outstanding undergraduates in universities in Hong Kong as well as opportunities to widen their international/ Mainland exposure and gain industry experience.
Value of Award
The maximum amount of each award is HK$150,000.
Components of the Scholarship
- Overseas/ Mainland Attachment Programme
- Mentorship Programme
- Service Project Programme
- Local Internship Programme (optional)
- Ideations and Achievements Showcase (optional)
Eligibilities and Selection Criteria
- Hong Kong Permanent Residents with the right of abode in Hong Kong;
- Undertaking any UGC-funded bachelor's degree, but currently not in the final year;
- Have passion and intention to pursue a career in innovation and technology fields; and with innovative ideas or engaging in InnoTech research that are aligned with any of the Scholarship's "InnoTech Areas*" as set out below:
- Advanced Manufacturing and Advanced Engineering
- Artificial Intelligence and Robotics
- Business and Financial Technology
- Life and Health Technology
- Sustainability and Green Technology
- Multi-disciplinary Technology and Others*
* Each candidate should only opt for ONE designated "InnoTech Area".
** The "Multi-disciplinary Technology and Others" category should be distinctive to the other five categories.
*** Candidates currently studying programme(s) under relevant InnoTech Area are eligible to apply under such category.
**** Regardless of Candidates' discipline of study, they are welcome to apply for one of the InnoTech Areas as long as they have innovative ideas and currently engaging in research in such InnoTech Area, and intending to pursuing career in innovation and technology.
- Preferably cumulative GPA of 3.0 (or equivalent) or above;
- Achieve a satisfactory result from any one of the English tests below:
- TOEFL# (Internet-based test)
- Minimum overall score: 90
- Scores for individual sections not lower than:
- Reading: 21
- Listening: 22
- Speaking: 21
- Writing: 17
- IELTS# (Academic Module)
- Overall band score: 6.5 or above
- Individual component scores not lower than 6.0
- HKDSE English Language Exam
- Level 4 or above
- International Baccalaureate (IB) Exam
- Grade 5 or above for English A Language and Literature Standard/ High Level; or
- Grade 6 or above for English B Standard Level; or
- Grade 5 or above for English B High Level.
- International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) Exam
- Grade C or above for Cambridge IGCSE English as a Second Language 0511; or
- Grade D or above for Cambridge IGCSE First Language English 0522; or
- Grade 6 or B or above for Pearson Edexcel IGCSE English as a Second Language; or
- Grade 4 or C or above for Pearson Edexcel IGCSE English Language (Specification A or B)
- TOEFL# (Internet-based test)
# Test must be taken on or after 5 February 2023.
These are irrespective of overseas universities' requirements.
- Well-rounded, has participated in extra-curricular and/ or community service activities;
- Able to display tremendous upside potential and benefit the most from the Scholarship;
- Willing to serve the community and have a strong commitment to Hong Kong;
- Possess good communication skills; and
- Have not previously received this Scholarship.

The above information is a reference from last year. There will be a Scholarship Information Session to share this year's update. The Donor will attend to meet and share information with those interested students:

Application Methods and Deadlines

Open Application: Interested students can submit online applications with supporting documents directly.

Nomination: Students can be nominated by the home College/ School. Kindly note that the deadline will be set by the respective College/ School.
IMPORTANT POINTS TO NOTE
- Candidates are required to attend coaching workshop(s) to upgrade their interview skills(s) if shortlisted.
- Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend selection interview(s) in March or April 2025 in person. Students who could not attend the interview(s) in person will NOT be considered for the Scholarship.
