Eligibility for the Fintech Olympiad 2022

The Fintech Olympiad 2022 (FTOL) is a competition for all tertiary-level students studying in the Greater Bay Area (including the two Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and Macao, and the nine municipalities of Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Huizhou, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Jiangmen and Zhaoqing in Guangdong Province).

Individual Eligibility

  1. Current College or University Students: Any current student studying at a tertiary academic institution may register as a competitor, from a higher diploma or undergraduate to any level of education beyond. Proof-of-enrollment may be requested by the Competitions Committee.
  2. Recent College or University Students: Any recent student of a tertiary academic institution within and including up to three (3) years since graduation or hiatus may register as a competitor. Proof-of-enrollment or proof-of-graduation may be requested by the Competitions Committee, as well as an endorsement from academic or administrative staff from their institutions.
  3. Aspiration: Any student whose institutions are located or connected to the Greater Bay Area (GBA) region of China or any student who is interested in developing in the GBA may participate. Proof-of-enrollment or proof-of-graduation may be requested by the Competitions Committee, as well as an endorsement from academic or administrative staff from their institutions.
  4. No age limit: A student is defined as a person of any age.

Team Eligibility

  1. Team Composition: Projects are submitted by teams of one (1) to six (6) eligible students. One participant can be part of more than one team; each team shall have a team lead, as the main contact person.
  2. Team Uniqueness: Each team must be unique, i.e. a team may not share more than 50% of the same composition as any other team, round to the lower number if the team is an odd number; team leads must be unique, i.e. one person cannot be the team lead of multiple teams.
  3. Team Representation: Each team must nominate one representative academic institution if any of the team members are from different academic institutions; teams may be composed of members from different countries/territories or academic institutions.

Project Eligibility

  1. One Team, One Project: A team may submit only one project.
  2. Relevancy: The project must be related to financial technology.
