Departmental Retreat 2024

Building upon the success of last year's Departmental Retreat, this year's retreat was held at the Sheraton and Four Points by Sheraton Hong Kong Tung Chung Hotel from 19 - 20 April 2024. Faculty members contributed their unique insights and perspectives on the future development of the Department.

The Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) 2026 remained a primary focus for our department. As the deadline for RAE 2026 is getting closer, Prof Sunny Wang took the lead on the department's RAE preparation and sought suggestions and opinions from the faculty.

Program curriculum was another area of focus. Presentations and discussions on the current programs were conducted by respective programme leaders and coordinators, with the aim of elevating CityUHK Physics's programs to a new level. Members were also briefed on the department's strategic hiring plan to further increase competitiveness.

International partnerships, crucial for enhancing global competitiveness, were also being discussed. Additionally, the development of research labs and spaces was presented to the members, stimulating questions about the future development plan.

Departmental Retreat proved to be an enriching and enjoyable experience, providing faculty members with fresh insights into the department's vision and mission. It demonstrated the dynamic approach of the department, ready to adapt as needed in response to evolving circumstances and requirements. We extend our gratitude to faculty members for their dedication and contributions, which were instrumental to the retreat's success. Let's look forward to next year's retreat.
