Professor Chun-Sing Lee (Provost and Deputy President of City University of Hong Kong), Prof. Xun-Li WANG, (Executive Director of Hong Kong Institute for Advanced Study, and President of the Physical Society of Hong Kong), and Prof. Biao WANG (Chairman of Guangdong Physics Society) attended the opening ceremony and delivered welcoming remarks. During the conference, Prof. Xincheng XIE from Peking University, Prof. Dapeng YU from Southern University of Science and Technology, Professor Handong SUN from University of Macau, Prof. Haiqing LIN from Zhejiang University, and Professor Yang REN from City University of Hong Kong delivered plenary talks on different fields. The titles of their talks are, respectively, Energy Dissipation of Topological Systems in the Quantum Limit, Develop Quantum Computing with High Quality and Empower the Fourth Industrial Revolution, Colloidal Semiconductor Lasers, Learning Superconductivity, and Continuous, or not continuous, that is the question. During the closing ceremony, Prof. Biao WANG presented the Best Poster Award to the nine recipients.

This conference attracted scholars and students from various fields to share their latest research results and development trends in physics. It provided many opportunities for scientific collaboration and academic exchanges among colleagues in the physics community. The conference welcomed a total of 341 registered participants. A total of 171 oral talks were conducted in 8 parallel sessions, including (1) Astrophysics and Astronomy, (2) Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics, (3) Biophysics and Soft Matter, (4) Condensed Matter Theory and Computational Physics, (5) Condensed Matter Physics, Materials Physics and Engineering, (6) Interdisciplinary Physics and Applied Physics, (7) Scattering, Particle, Nuclear and Plasma Physics, as well as (8) Quantum Physics. Finally, the conference received a total of 81 poster contributions, which is the highest number in the conference’s history.

This conference is the first Joint Annual Conference of Physical Societies in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area held after the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
