Dr. Denis Yau joined CityU in March 2019 as poultry veterinarian in the Centre for Applied One Health Research and Policy Advice. He is responsible for the implementation of the research project entitled “Improving Poultry Health and Production in Hong Kong” which is funded by the Sustainable Agricultural Development Fund of the Hong Kong Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department.

Denis graduated with a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine from National Taiwan University in 1986 and earned his Master of Science in Laboratory Animal Science in 1988 from The Royal Veterinary College, UK. He has worked in the poultry technical service sector since 1989. Early in his career, he worked for Charoen Pokphand, a Thai-Agro multinational corporation based in China, as the head of the veterinary health surveillance laboratory. He then worked for Intervet with increasing technical responsibilities between 1992 and 2009 before he started his own consultancy company for poultry customers in the Asia Pacific region. From 2015, he was the Poultry Technical Manager in Asia Pacific and Sub-Saharan Africa at Merck Sharp & Dohme (MSD).
