There are currently 43 licensed pig farms in Hong Kong, and roughly speaking, there is an estimated number of 60,000 to 70,000 pigs in Hong Kong. Pig farms in Hong Kong are usually inherited small family businesses. Since March 2019, the swine team has been actively reaching out to farmers to introduce our free ambulatory veterinary services. As of today, the swine team is serving over 80% of local pig farms in Hong Kong, by providing various laboratory tests, post mortems, and farm management recommendations to the local farmers. The swine team thrives to serve the local pig farmers by promoting swine health and welfare through science-based husbandry practice, prompt disease diagnosis and prevention.
