Supported by the Sustainable Agricultural Development Fund, the Swine Team is excited to announce that the very first livestock veterinary pharmacy is now launched, dedicated to serving Hong Kong local pig farmers. The pharmacy has been set up to encourage prudent and responsible use of antimicrobials for the Hong Kong livestock industry, thereby reducing the impact of antimicrobial resistance. The operational pharmacy is located at the CityU Veterinary Medical Centre in Sham Shui Po. Along with the launch, the swine team will continue to provide local farmers with guidelines and information on the prevention of diseases, antimicrobial resistance, and the responsible and effective use of antimicrobials, to mitigate the threat of antimicrobial resistance to Hong Kong public health.
