Hung Hing Ying and Leung Hau Ling Charitable Foundation
The Hung family has been a staunch supporter of education. It set up the Hung Hing Ying and Leung Hau Ling Charitable Foundation in Hong Kong in 1985 and had it registered as a non-profit private funding body in 1994 in support of educational and cultural advancement in Greater China.
Inheriting the philanthropic spirit of her parents, Ms Belinda Hung, Chairperson of the Foundation, believes in the transformative power of education. Under her leadership over the decades, the Foundation has made significant contributions to promoting education through numerous scholarship schemes, distinguished visiting fellow programmes, and named professorship schemes.
Mr Hung Hing-ying
Mr Hung Hing-ying was born in Nanhai, Guangdong of a humble origin. He started to work in the job market in Hong Kong at an early age of 11. Endowed with great intelligence and an industrious approach in life, Mr Hung’s business interests were noted very early in his career. He first started to build a career in gold trading; the market of which was heavily hit after the Korean War in the 1950s. His versatility has enabled him to reinvent himself into a successful real estate agent. In 1972, Mr Hung and his wife, Mrs Hung Leung Hau Ling began their illustrious careers in the fields of stock trading and financial investment, and had met with tremendous success after. Being deprived of a formal education himself, Mr Hung was most supportive of educational causes.
