The Centre for Judicial Education and Research cum Identification of Hong Kong Law (JERI) has been established to achieve two objectives, one is to conduct judicial education, especially for Chinese judges, the other is to conduct research relating to judiciary in Hong Kong, China and other jurisdictions. In order to fulfil the second objective, the JERI has decided to launch a Working Paper series. I am pleased to announce that the first and second Working Paper have been completed and are now available. Working Paper no. 1 is about the past, present and future status of expatriate judges in Hong Kong. Working Paper no. 2 studies the impact of current judicial reform on judicial independence in China. Professor LIN Feng
