"Doctor of Juridical Science (Chinese Judges) Book Donation Ceremony" was held by Run Run Shaw Library, City University of Hong Kong (CityU Library) on October 9.The students of Doctor of Juridical Science (Chinese Judges) Programme (JSD) from School of Law of City University of Hong Kong donated a set of “Judgmentin the Republic of China peiod” to the CityU Library. The guests included Professor WANG Guiguo, Director of Centre for Judicial Education and Research & Chair Professor of Chinese and Comparative Law, School of Law, City University of Hong Kong; Professor GU Minkang, Associate Dean, School of Law, City University of Hong Kong; Doctor GUAN Wenwei, Assistant Professor,School of Law, City University of Hong Kong;as well asthe visiting JSD Chinese Judges students. |

The donation originated in a JSD activity of studying ancient law books held by the City U Library in May. Judge XU Qingyu, Director of Politician Affairs Section, Jiangsu Province Higher People's Court, was impressed by the importance paid by the librarian in this activity. As the JSD students came to Hong Kong to attend an academic exchange activity held by the School of Law in October, Judge Xu took this opportunity to donate a set “Judgment in the Republic of China period”to the City U Library on behalf of the JSD students. |
Judge Xu Qingyu introduced theset of “Judgment in the Republic of China period”contained tenvolumes in total,and record all the criminal and civil cases ruled by the Jiangsu Province Higher People’s Court in the Republic of China period. He said that the CityU Library is helpful and supportive to the JSD students in their thesis writing.Therefore, the JSD students wish to try their best tomake contribution to the book collection of the CityU Library. |
Professor CHING Hsianghoo Steve, University Librarian, City University of Hong Kong, said there were great collections of Chinese books in CityU library. He was glad that the City University of Hong Kong continued to support the development of JSD Programme, CityU Library will make sure doctoral thesis of the JSD studentare properly kept and share the collection with different people in the future. He expressed thanks to JudgeXu, Professor Wang, and the JSD students again. He was also pleased to have the luck to keep these precious documents. |
