Last week, the Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences had the pleasure of welcoming Dr. Susan VandeWoude, Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and Distinguished Professor at Colorado State University during 14 - 15 November 2024.

During her visit, Dr. VandeWoude toured the CityUHK Farm, the only dairy farm in Hong Kong and a core teaching facility of CityUHK’s Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine programme. Another highlight of Dr. VandeWoude's visit was her seminar on "Artificial Intelligence in Veterinary Health Care and Education", held on 15 November. During this seminar, she explored the potential impacts of AI technologies on veterinary education and patient care delivery. She shared findings from a survey conducted by the American Academy of Veterinary Medical Colleges, which informed their strategy for integrating AI into teaching, research, and clinical practice. The seminar concluded with a discussion on the future implications of AI and the open questions surrounding its application in the field.

We thank Dean VandeWoude for sharing her expertise and insights with us during the visit. We look forward to deepening our connections and collaborating with the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, Colorado State University in the future!
