On 14 November 2024, the Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences (JCC) hosted an engaging annual conference focused on advancements in veterinary emergency and critical care. We were excited to welcome over 70 clinical partner veterinarians from the local veterinary hospitals, who contributed to lively discussions and networking opportunities.
The event commenced with opening remarks from Dr. Yorkee Leung, Clinical Programme Manager. Following this, Dr. Cherry Lee, Clinical EMS Coordinator, shared valuable insights from students about their clinical EMS experiences, highlighting the crucial role of student feedback in shaping our programme.
Dean Vanessa Barrs delivered an inspiring address on the future of veterinary medicine, highlighting the significance of collaboration and innovation. The evening featured key presentations from Dr. Duana McBride, a Specialist in Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care at CityU Veterinary Medicine Centre, who discussed strategies for managing cardiogenic shock and hypotensive patients. Dr. Liam Donaldson, also a Specialist in Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care at CityU Veterinary Medicine Centre, explored advanced therapies for small animal patients with left-sided congestive heart failure, stressing the limitations of relying solely on diuretic therapy.
The evening wrapped up with Q&A session, providing attendees a valuable opportunity to engage with our experts and foster dynamic discussions. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all our speakers, clinical partners, and participants for making this event a success! Stay tuned for more CPD events in the future!
