The Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences (JCC) celebrated the graduation of its PhD, Master's, and Bachelor's degree students at the JCC Commencement on 12 June 2024.

The Commencement was graced by the presence our Guest of Honour, Dr. Thomas Sit, Assistant Director (Inspection and Quarantine) of the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department and Chief Veterinary Officer of HKSAR. Dr. Sit delivered an insightful speech highlighting his journey as a government veterinarian, emphasising the pivotal role of veterinarians in safeguarding public health, ensuring food safety, and promoting animal welfare. Dean Vanessa Barrs, as the Presiding Officer, also delivered an inspiring address to the graduates, congratulating them on the commencement of a new chapter filled with promise, choices, ambition, and dreams.

A special congratulations is extended to the inaugural cohort of graduates from the Master of Science in Neuroscience programme, who now join the JCC alumni community. This diverse community includes graduates from programmes including the Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine, Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences, Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences, as well as our Master's and Doctor of Philosophy programmes. It is with great confidence that we believe our graduates, hailing from various disciplines in veterinary medicine and life sciences, are well-equipped to embark on their next endeavors.

Additionally, the achievements of Prof. Xin Deng and Prof. Wai-Kit Ming should not go unsung. Prof. Deng and Prof. Ming received the Outstanding Research Award for Junior Faculty and the Thetos Young Scholar Award respectively. These accolades serve as a testament to their years of hard work, research excellence and contribution to both the scientific and university communities.
