Dr. Thomas Edwards, DVM, MS, DACVECC

Dr. Thomas Edwards, born outside of Chicago (Illinois, USA), grew up wanting to work with animals. He graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelors degree in Animal Science, and later, from the University of Georgia’s College of Veterinary Medicine, with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree with honours.

He completed a year-long internship at the U.S. Department of Defense Military Working Dog Center in San Antonio, TX. After completing his internship, he practiced both, small animal and equine medicine, in Arizona and Georgia.

Dr. Edwards has practiced small animal emergency medicine at a number of emergency veterinary practices since graduating from Veterinary School. In 2014, he completed a 3 year residency in Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care medicine at the University of Georgia and concurrently earned a Masters degree in Veterinary Biosciences.

He is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care.

10:30-12:30 Placement of central lines, cut downs, arterial and intraosseous access. Oxygenation lines (tracheostomy tubes, nasal lines placement)

14:00-15:30 Chest tube placement, endotracheal wash

16:00-18:00 Open chest CPR, urinary catheterisation
