Revolutionising Visitor Experience with AI Voicebot at JUPAS Consultation Day
In support of CityU’s culture of innovation, Central IT has introduced various Generative AI technology platforms to support the university’s events and departmental inquiry services. Recently, we worked with the Admission Office (ADMO) to deploy an AI Voicebot assistant during the JUPAS Consultation Day on 18 May 2024, providing a personalised experience to visitors. The event offered secondary school students a chance to get familiar with CityU's courses and environment; it included guided tours, seminars, admission talks, and various activities organised by different colleges, schools, and departments. This year's event attracted over 1,000 visitors.
The goal of the AI Voicebot assistant was to enhance the experience for visitors by offering customised activity schedules and recommendations tailored to individual interests and preferences. Visitors no longer had to rely solely on printed schedules or inquire with CityU staff to plan their activities. Instead, the AI Voicebot was able to provide personalised suggestions, ensuring visitors could make the most of the event. Over 100 queries were handled during the four-hour event, and various positive feedback was received from the participants.

In conclusion, the collaboration between Central IT and ADMO to utilise AI Voicebot services during the JUPAS Consultation Day was proven to be effective. The AI Voicebot provided customised activity schedules and suggestions, enhancing the impression of visitors to CityU and demonstrating our commitment to delivering innovative solutions. The potential of AI Voicebot services goes beyond event assistance.
