New LED Wall Loan Service
Wave goodbye to one-time printed backdrops when you organise events at City University of Hong Kong. Central IT has acquired a large LED Wall for departments to use as a backdrop or a display screen.
With high definition and high brightness, LED Walls have been frequently adopted in the past three years for conferences, exhibitions, gala dinners, meetings, etc. It creates visual appeal for the events and allows animated graphics and videos to be shown. However, the high rental and setup cost of the LED Wall became a stopper for the organiser. Central IT has acquired a large LED Wall to be loaned by departments which drastically lowers the setup cost.
This LED Wall is a new facility provided by Central IT to meet the needs of institutional or departmental events, and departments can reserve it online via the Room & Equipment Booking System under the “Equipment & Map” menu.
The LED Wall is flexible in its sizes; the following dimensions and resolutions can be configured depending on the requirements:

The above table shows the maximum size of each option; however, the control system allows users to customise the screen into any form, and below are two practical examples:

The LED Wall can be set up in many locations as long as sufficient power and space are available. The following campus venues are currently identified as suitable for installing the LED Wall.
- 4/F, University Concourse, Blue Zone, YEUNG Building
- 4/F, Wong’s International Terrace, BOC Building
- 19/F, Senate Foyer, LAU Building
- 5/F, WCLHY Hall, LAU Building
- 8/F, United Centre, Admiralty
Central IT will not charge on the reservation nor the use of the LED Wall, but departments will be responsible for paying the setup cost which will be directly charged by an external service provider. Chargeable items may include:
- Labour charge for setting up and dismantling the wall
- Extra transportation cost if the location is outside the main campus
- On-site standby and operator charge (on a need basis)
Although Central IT has obtained a standard cost from a service provider, the amount may slightly vary due to the abovementioned requirements.
