To promote and enhance research capabilities as well as to strengthen CityUHK's research competitiveness, the University launched its first institution-level High Performance Computing (HPC) facility, named “CityU Burgundy”, in September 2020. The CityU Burgundy HPC cluster boasts an impressive array of over 100 Nvidia accelerators, including V100s, A100s, and A40s, providing a robust foundation for AI and machine learning workloads. These powerful computational resources are managed by a workload scheduler, such as SLURM, enabling researchers to conduct highly sophisticated and impactful studies that drive scientific breakthroughs for the benefit of society and individuals.
The Burgundy HPC cluster supports Singularity containers, allowing users to either upload their own custom images or seek assistance from the Computing Services Centre (CSC) to build the computational environments required for their specific areas of research, such as artificial intelligence and machine learning.
This comprehensive infrastructure and support ecosystem empower CityUHK researchers to push the boundaries of scientific discovery and unlock new possibilities through the effective utilisation of advanced GPU-accelerated computing capabilities.
Interested parties may contact the CSC at csc.hpc@cityu.edu.hk or IT.ServiceDesk@cityu.edu.hk for assistance and enquiries.
