After having worked in the IT industry and university education for 40+ years, Dr Louis Ma has gained insights and practical experience in teaching, research and consulting in the areas of strategic planning, business transformation, project & outsourcing management, e-business, e-learning, outcomes-based education, and development of innovative talents.

Dr Ma has transformed professional education with innovative emerging technology courses and improved student learning experiences. He jointly developed innovative degree programmes in “e-business” and “global business systems management”, as well as enhanced Assurance of Learning in the College of Business. He also designed CityU’s i-MBA system, which won innovation awards, including the best distance MBA in the Asian/Pacific Region. Dr Ma also developed and taught the first innovative Information Systems master’s degree programme in Hong Kong at PolyU.

Dr Ma has been highly committed to talent development as exemplified by his having received the CityU Teaching Excellence Award and serving as an adviser to professional bodies and universities as well as the judging panel for HKICT Awards, Asian Pacific ICT Awards, and Coolthink projects. His previous services include VP of HK Computer Society, Election Committee of the Government of the HKSAR, ICT Service Advisory Committee of HKTDC, UGC’s Task Force on Outcome-based Approaches in Student Learning, UGC QA Council Auditor, Director of Federation for Self-financing Tertiary Education, Liaison Panel for Academic Accreditation of HKCAAVQ, EDB’s Curriculum Development Council (Applied Learning), and Executive Committee of CPD Alliance
