TransportTech: AI-based Pedestrian Collision Avoidance System at Unsignalized Crosswalks with Safety Improvement Strategies
This project focuses on studying motor vehicle give-way behaviour at unsignalized pedestrian crossings. Using AI and deep-learning techniques, we aim to identify subtle risky situations and behaviours, propose targeted preventive strategies, and enhance pedestrian crossing safety and traffic operation efficiency. By considering various factors involved in motor vehicle give-way behaviour, this project contributes to the theoretical understanding of give-way behaviour under the 'give-way-to-pedestrians' policy. It also provides regulatory agencies with practical supervision measures and implementation suggestions, ultimately improving safety and efficiency at unsignalized pedestrian crossings.
