China’s increasing influence in global economics and culture has led to rising interest among foreigners in learning Chinese for business collaboration, educational endeavours and cultural exchange. As part of a teacher-researcher community, our team has identified several challenges in Chinese language education: the problem of allocating sufficient time for learning and practice, the lack of immersive language environments, and limited availability of qualified Chinese educators. To address these challenges, we propose developing a Chinese language learning app that offers an immersive learning experience while fostering students' interest, including:
- Developing a practical Chinese learning app that allows students to study using mobile devices at a convenient time.
- Establishing extensive resources with diverse Chinese learning materials, like dialogues and short narratives, to cater for different proficiency levels . This will enhance the practicality of their acquired knowledge while ensuring an engaging learning experience.
- Developing a dynamic real-time dialogue function that allows students to engage in authentic conversations. This function will offer pronunciation and vocabulary learning guidance and support the translation of multiple languages for teaching assistance.
- Creating a personalised learning customisation system that allows students to tailor their learning experience according to their interests and to find teachers online.
