Mr Jonathan Shea is a seasoned, innovative and passionate consultant, executive and technologist in IT in internet business, internet domain name, telecommunications, and construction industries.

Mr Shea was Director of Product Development and Management at TraxComm Ltd. Before joining TraxComm, Mr Shea was the IT Consultant of Construction Industry Council. He was the Chief Executive Officer of Hong Kong Internet Registration Corporation (HKIRC) and Hong Kong Domain Name Registration Company Limited (HKDNR) from 2002 to 2016. Before joining HKIRC, Mr Shea was the Chief Technology Officer of China Light and Power Telecommunications Limited. He has also held senior executive positions in Henderson Cyber, New World Telecom and Telstra (Australia).

While in TraxComm, Mr Shea built the data centre business. He led the implementation of Software-Defined Networking (SDN) which is instrumental in the digital transformation of the Company. He was also involved in the development of wholesale data centre and SD-WAN businesses. Mr Shea also spearheaded the drive for digital marketing to enhance overall customer experience as well as to connect to more prospects and partners both locally and overseas.

Mr Shea is an active promoter of the use of .hk domain names to enhance the sense of belonging of Hong Kong companies and people, and the innovative application of Internet to benefit individuals and businesses in Hong Kong. When working for HKIRC/HKDNR, he fostered win-win partnership with local and overseas ISPs, domain name registries and registrars, and related global and regional NGOs such as Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and APTLD (Asia Pacific Top Level Domain Association). Mr Shea was the Chairman of APTLD from 2008 to 2010, and 2012 to 2014.

Since 2011, Mr Shea has been providing strong support to local IT start-ups and entrepreneurs through participation in the Cyberport Entrepreneurship Centre Advisory Group (ECAG). He is currently a member of the Enterprise Support Scheme (ESS) Assessment Panel under the Innovation and Technology Commission of the HKSARG.

Apart from being a Chartered Engineer, Mr Shea is a fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Directors, member of the Hong Kong Computer Society and Institution of Engineering and Technology.
