Mr JY Chan is a Partner at Wings Capital Ventures (WCV), a Hong Kong-based venture capital fund focusing on early-stage investments in FinTech and B2B SaaS. He has joined WCV’s inception since late 2022 and was responsible for the fund’s investment in several notable Hong Kong start-ups, including Dayta AI, Neufast and MediConCen.

Passionate about fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in Hong Kong, Mr Chan actively engages with the local start-up ecosystem. He has served as a judge at major local events like Jumpstarter and EPiC, while also actively participating in investor matchmaking initiatives hosted by Cyberport, HKSTP, Hong Kong FinTech Week, universities, and others. Mr Chan has over 15 years of investment experience across the capital structure, including private equity, private credit and hybrid investments focusing on China and Asia Pacific. He has served in major international and Chinese financial institutions including CPP Investments, China Merchants Capital, Intermediate Capital Group and Bank of China International, of which the majority are buy-side institutions. He has in-depth knowledge in investment structuring and relative values across the capital structure, through his wide-ranging product experience.

Mr Chan started his career at the Research Department of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority which laid the foundation of his lifelong interest in China’s economy.

Mr Chan received his Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania and Bachelor’s degree summa cum laude in Industrial and Operations Engineering from the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor. He is also a CFA charter holder. Moreover, he has completed a series of certified continuing education programmes focusing on FinTech and decentralised finance (DeFi).
